                                                                           Lysa
Background is texture paste and acrylic paint through stencils, sprayed with pigment powders diluted in water. Layered paper under sentiment which is also sprayed with pigment powders. Black arrow embellishments. White chalk paint arrow.

                                                                           Melissa

Die cut the leaves around the edge of the dark green card base. Then applied a layer of Gesso, sponged on some gold metallic ink and then stamped the leaves in white.

                                                                     Lee-Anne

A one-layer design with stencilled background using Distress Inks.  Then some clear heat-embossed pigment inks for the top and bottom strips.  And finally...a few micro beads.

                                                                           Julia

I used a photo of my grandniece framed in a Cabinet Card, stapled on Film Strip Ribbon, Tissue Tape, a metal File Tab colored with Alcohol Ink, Chit Chat Stickers framed with a Stabilo pencil, and embossing powders on a die cut acorn and pumpkin.

                                                                         Yasmina

I used a Prima's vintage image with children, layers with papers, inks sprays, modeling paste through stencil, flowers and metal embellishments colored with inks.

                                                                       Shirley

Gelli Plate background made with acrylic inks, stencils, lace and punchinella; diecuts; Distress Inks; white pen; Fran-tage embossing powder

                                                                      Maria

Sprays, texture paste, heat embossing, stencils and stamps in background.  Sentiment stamped and cut out.

                                                                           Sanna

Distress Stain "faux watercolor" background on thick watercolor paper, colored texture spray droplets in black and white, stamped arrows and stamped sentiment, highlighted with glitter glue and a feather.

                                                                            Becca

Made in honor of my dad, for when we picked out trees and made Christmas wreaths in my childhood. Background made with Perfect Pearls, used Old Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Inks to age the edges, Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers to color the main image, rhinestones, and gold jingle bells complete the look.

October Challenge Winners

Hey there, mixed media card artists!  It's time to announce the winner and highlights for the October "Black & Orange" challenge.

Here's the winning mixed media card as chosen by the design team:

Congratulations! Please grab your winner badge below to display proudly on your blog.

And now here are the highlights. The girls in the design team picked an entry to highlight. It's the entry that uniquely impacted us in some way -- a specific technique that was used, the colors, the creativity, or something in it that touched or impacted us.

Becca's highlight - #3 Kirsi -  The composition of this just blew me away! I love the repetition of circular shapes, the hand drawing, and the splatters. One word: Gorgeous!

Lee-Anne's highlight - #16  Suchi's card just pops in the gallery.  Love the dramatic look of her fussy cut orange butterflies on that gorgeous black and white background.

Melissa said -  Suchi's vibrant card is a real stand out. I love it's beautiful, but stunning, simplicity.

Maria F's highlight - #21 ElaI just love Ela's grungy rays, making the frightened pumpkin appear to be falling out of those scary hands.

Jenny's highlight - #25  Rahmat says she she's not very good at Mixed Media, but I love her bold design and the use of the paint to highlight the centre flower. I also love the angled panels!

Yasmina's highlight - #19 Mona- I really love this little owl and the design of Mona's card!

Lysa's highlight -  #11 Mac Mable: I love the spider Web and the spiders made from buttons, how clever.

Sanna said -  #23 Mac Mable - at first sight the card looks very "clean" but then there is so much going on when you take a second look. Mixed media fun!!! I found it extremely hard to choose just one highlight this time, there were so many fabulous card submissions this time. Loved everyones cards!!!

Shirley said -  #23 Mac Mable.  I love the balance of this card - the contrasting colours and textures, the frame within a frame, the placement of the butterflies, and then you slide back down those glossy leaves to the sentiment.  Fabulous grouping of elements!

Julia's Highlight - #12 Chris G - I love the face on her ethereal moon, the grey cloud and black bats

Congratulations, ladies! Grab your badge below to display proudly on your blog.

There's still plenty of time to enter this month's challenge
